Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored and shared when you use the Sloŭca mobile application and related services (“Sloŭca”).
Sloŭca is provided by Tsimur Mashara, Herbu Oksza 25, 02-495 Warsaw, Poland (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the controller of your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create or use a Sloŭca account, we collect:
- – your email address, or an Apple private relay address if you choose “Hide My Email”;
- – your name, where your sign-in provider gives it to us;
- – your profile picture link, where your Google account provides one;
- – your Sloŭca user identifier;
- – authentication information associated with your account.
You sign in with Apple or Google, and authentication is handled by those services. We never receive or store your Apple or Google password.
Waitlist
If you join the waitlist on our website, we collect your email address to tell you when Sloŭca launches. We do not use it for anything else, and you can ask us to remove it at any time by emailing support@slouca.app.
Voice recordings
When you capture a word by speaking, Sloŭca uses your device’s microphone to record a short audio clip. The recording starts only when you tap to capture. The clip is sent through our server to Google’s Gemini API to recognize the word (see section 3). We do not store your recordings.
Content you create
We store the content you add or create in Sloŭca, including:
- – saved words and the meanings you choose;
- – translations you write;
- – collections;
- – your learning language and native language.
Learning activity
To provide learning features, we store:
- – practice progress and the status of each word;
- – review scheduling (when each word is next due);
- – learning preferences and app settings.
Shared collections
If you share a collection, anyone with the link can view it and add it to their account. We keep a record of which accounts have joined each shared collection.
Reports you send
- – Bug reports contain the text you write, plus your app version, app build, iOS version and device model.
- – Word issue reports contain the reported word, the kind of problem, and your language pair.
Both are linked to your account so we can follow up.
Usage counters
We count how many word lookups each account makes per day, to enforce fair-use limits and prevent abuse.
Subscription information
If you buy Sloŭca Pro, Apple processes the payment through the App Store. We receive only what is needed to determine your subscription status:
- – whether your subscription is active or expired;
- – purchase and renewal status;
- – App Store transaction information;
- – your Sloŭca user identifier, which links the subscription to your account.
We never receive or store your payment card details.
Technical information
Our service providers may process limited technical information needed to operate and secure Sloŭca, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address and authentication logs.
What we do not collect
Sloŭca contains no advertising, advertising identifiers, third-party analytics or crash-tracking tools. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
2. How We Use Information
We use information collected through Sloŭca to:
- – create and manage your account;
- – provide Sloŭca’s vocabulary and learning features;
- – recognize spoken words and generate definitions, examples and translations;
- – save and synchronize your words, collections, preferences and learning progress across your devices;
- – enable collection sharing;
- – manage Sloŭca Pro subscriptions;
- – enforce usage limits and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorized access;
- – respond to bug reports, word issue reports and support requests;
- – maintain, secure, troubleshoot and improve Sloŭca;
- – comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
3. Artificial Intelligence Features
Sloŭca uses Google’s Gemini API to recognize spoken words and to generate definitions, examples, translations and related vocabulary content.
When you use these features, the following may be sent to Gemini for processing:
- – your voice recording, or the word you type;
- – your learning language and native language;
- – any context needed to fulfil your request.
We do not include your email address, name or user identifier in requests sent to Gemini.
We use Google’s paid Gemini API. Under its terms, Google does not use your requests or responses to improve its products. Processing is also subject to Google’s applicable terms and privacy practices.
The shared dictionary. The words, definitions, examples and translations that Gemini generates are stored in a shared dictionary, so later lookups of the same word are faster and consistent. Dictionary entries are not linked to your account and may be shown to other users. Your voice recordings are never stored in the dictionary.
Please avoid speaking or typing sensitive personal information into capture features.
4. Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers to operate Sloŭca.
Supabase
Supabase provides our backend infrastructure, database storage, authentication and server functions. Our Supabase project is hosted in the European Union (Stockholm, Sweden).
Supabase processes your account information, waitlist email address, user identifier, vocabulary, collections, learning progress, preferences, reports, usage counters and technical logs. It also passes voice recordings through to Gemini without storing them.
Google Gemini
Google’s Gemini API processes voice recordings and language content, as described in section 3.
RevenueCat
RevenueCat manages subscriptions and determines access to Sloŭca Pro features. It processes App Store transaction information, purchase history, limited technical information and your Sloŭca user identifier.
Apple and Google
Apple and Google process information when you use their sign-in, platform or App Store services. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Sloŭca Pro subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are processed by Apple. RevenueCat is used to validate purchases and manage subscription access within Sloŭca. Sloŭca never receives your card or other payment details.
Deleting your Sloŭca account does not cancel an active App Store subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings.
6. Legal Basis for Processing
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on the following:
- – Performing our agreement with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). This covers your account, voice capture and content generation, storing and synchronizing your content, collection sharing, and your subscription.
- – Our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). This covers usage limits, abuse prevention, security, handling your reports, and maintaining and improving Sloŭca. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time.
- – Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)), such as keeping purchase records for tax and accounting purposes.
7. Data Retention
We keep your account information and learning data for as long as your account is active.
When you delete your account, we permanently delete your account and all information linked to it from our database.
Some limited information may be kept longer:
- – Backups. Deleted information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before it is automatically overwritten.
- – Service providers. Our providers may keep certain information, such as subscription transaction records held by Apple and RevenueCat, under their own retention policies and legal obligations.
- – The shared dictionary. Dictionary entries are not linked to any account, so they remain after account deletion.
8. Account and Data Deletion
You can delete your account at any time in Sloŭca under Settings → Manage account → Delete account.
Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes:
- – your account;
- – your saved vocabulary and collections;
- – your learning progress and preferences;
- – your reports and usage counters;
- – your membership of collections shared with you.
Collections you shared with others are also removed and stop being available to them.
You can also email support@slouca.app with deletion or other privacy requests.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- – request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- – request correction of inaccurate information;
- – request deletion of your personal information;
- – request restriction of certain processing;
- – object to certain processing;
- – receive your information in a portable format;
- – lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email support@slouca.app. We will respond within one month.
In Poland, the supervisory authority is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl. You can also contact the authority in the EU country where you live or work.
10. International Data Transfers
Our main database is hosted in the European Union. Some service providers, including Google, RevenueCat and Apple, may process information in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area.
When information is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards. These include the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified, or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Children’s Privacy
Sloŭca is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If you are under the age at which you can consent to the processing of personal data in your country (16 in Poland), you may use Sloŭca only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us improperly, please contact us at support@slouca.app and we will delete it.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
- – All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- – Access rules on our database ensure each account can read only its own data, plus any collections it has joined.
- – Our Gemini API key is kept on our server and is never included in the app.
However, no electronic service or method of data storage can guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Sloŭca, our service providers or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when this Privacy Policy was last updated.
